This is a beautiful 50s full pleated skirt by the Californian 'Alex Colman' label. It features a purple abstract print (almost floral) on a white cotton background. There is a side metal zipper and button closure. Unlined.

Alex and Sade Colman started their company in 1949. They were producers of quality sportswear, coordinates, and casual dresses in the California style. For many years, the head designer at Alex Colman was Sade’s sister, Blanche Lefton. It became one of the largest clothing manufacturers in the United States. They were known for their vivid prints inspired by Blanche's trips to Europe. They worked with mills and printers in Japan. Alex Colman inc. was the parent company and it eventually closed in the 1980s.
